Three current or former University of Maryland students are heading to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup — although only two will be hitting the field in the traditional manner.
Graham Zusi and Omar Gonzalez helped lead the Terps to their two recent NCAA Division I soccer championships in 2005 and 2008. They’re both on the national team now. Alas, the U.S. has drawn into what some are calling “The Group of Death” (really), in that they’re matched against Germany, Portugal, and Ghana — three powerhouse teams. But, hey, it’s an honor just to be invited, right?
The third Terp headed to Rio is current freshman Lauren Bork, who will be appearing with a 15 person jump rope team. Watch her in action below.
