Former Baltimore Sun restaurant critic shares his list of restaurants opening on Christmas Eve and Christmas.
From gorelickingood – I had to take one restaurant off this year’s list of Christmas openings. The German restaurant Eichenkranz, which was open 365 days a year for many years, closed back in May.
I’ll be adding more restaurants and further details to this list as Christmas gets closer.
Wit & Wisdom (200 International Drive, 410-576-5800, witandwisdombaltimore.com), the restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore, is serving a Christmas Day brunch from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. ($69 for adults; $39 for children 12 and under). Then, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wit & Wisdom will serve a three-course winter feast menu ($85; $40 for children under 12) from chef Zack Mills. Entrees include red wine-braised short rib, monkfish osso buco and seared War Shore scallops. A credit card is required to hold the reservation.
Sotto Sopra (405 N. Charles St., 410-625-0534, sottosoprainc.com) is open, as it always is, on Christmas Day from noon to 10 p.m. Regi’s in Federal Hill (1002 Light St,. 410-539-7344, regisamericanbistro.com) will be serving signature items from its regular dinner and brunch menus along with a selection of holiday items.
Bistro 300 (300 Light St., 410-528-1234, baltimore.hyatt.com) at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore is open on Christmas Day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, starting at 11 a.m. Check the website for updates and information about times and menus.
For old times’ sake, Wing Wah (509 Reisterstown Road, 410-653-0606) in Pikesville, China Moon in Reisterstown (100 Chartley Drive, 410-833-3992) and Szechuan House (1427 York Road, 410-825-8181, szechuanhouse.net) in Timonium are open regular hours on Christmas Day.
Morton’s the Steakhouse (300 S. Charles St., 410-547-8255, mortons.com) is open 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Two restaurants at Horseshoe Baltimore (1525 Russell St., caesars.com/baltimore/restaurants): Guy Fieri’s Baltimore Kitchen + Bar (443-931-4387) and Jack Binion’s Steak (443-931-4386), are open Christmas Day. The Prime Rib at Maryland Live Casino (7002 Arundel Mills Circle, 443-445-2970, marylandlivecasino.com) is serving a holiday prix-fixe menu in addition to its regular a la carte menu.
Turning to Christmas Eve, restaurants serving a traditional Feast of the Seven Fishes menu, along with their regular menus, on Christmas Eve include Aldo’s (306 S. High St., 410-727-0700, aldositaly.com), which has a $69 four-course menu, Pazo (1425 Aliceanna St., 410-534-7296, pazorestaurant.com), where the prix-fixe menu is $55. Aida Cafe & Wine Bar (6741 Columbia Gateway Drive, 410-953-0500, aidabistro.com) in Columbia, which will be serving its special $42 menu on Dec. 23 as well as on Christmas Eve.
Sotto Sopra is open for Christmas Eve dinner from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In Harbor East, Charleston (1000 Lancaster St., 410-332-7373, charlestonrestaruant.com) is offering Cindy Wolf‘s multi-course, seasonal prix-fixe tasting menu with the special addition of holiday-inspired courses on Christmas Eve, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Cinghiale (822 Lancaster St., 410-547-8282, cgeno.com) is serving Julian Venetian prix-fixe menu, featuring pan-roasted goose and other seasonal specialties.
Regi’s in Federal Hill is serving on Christmas Eve, with a list of holiday specials in addition to its regular menu.
Downtown Christmas Eve dining options include Morton’s the Steakhouse, the Capital Grille (500 E. Pratt St., 443-703-4064, thecapitalgrille.com) and the Ruth’s Chris Steak Houses at the Pier V Hotel (711 Eastern Ave., 410-230-0033, serioussteaks.com) and on Water Street (600 Water St., 410-783-0033, serioussteaks.com).
The Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Pikesville (1777 Reisterstown Road, 410-837-0033, serioussteaks.com) is open for Christmas Eve dinner, too, as isThe Prime Rib (1101 N. Calvert St., 410-539-1804, theprimerib.com) in Mid-Town Belvedere.
The Prime Rib at Maryland Live Casino, which is serving a holiday prix-fixe menu in addition to its regular a la carte menu. The Live! Buffet at Maryland Live Casino is open on Christmas Eve from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
