
With April now just a memory – it passed by in a flash, didn’t it? – it’s now time to buckle down and think about Mother’s Day, which sneaks up on us early this year on Sunday, May 8.
Fortunately, restaurants all over Baltimore are hosting special Mother’s Day brunches and dinners, so even if you’ve left plans for mom until this very last minute, you’re covered. Here’s a look at some of what’s happening around town for the holiday:
Aldo’s: Mother’s Day brunch at Aldo’s will include classics like smoked salmon benedict and cinnamon brioche French toast, plus bubbly brunch cocktails and a soundtrack from a live jazz duo.
Alizee American Bistro: Mother’s Day brunch at Alizee includes classics like chicken and waffles and grilled lamb, plus a complimentary mimosa with each meal.
Azumi: For moms who love sushi and sake, Azumi is a great Mother’s Day choice; the Harbor East restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
B&O American Brasserie: Mother’s Day brunch at B&O starts as early as 8 a.m. and includes a wide range of brunch classics, plus an option for unlimited Bloodies and mimosas.
Birroteca: Moms can really celebrate this Mother’s Day at Birroteca; the restaurant will spring for the meal for one mom per table.
Charleston: The Harbor East restaurant will be open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mother’s Day, with the esteemed Chef Cindy Wolf offering her seasonal multi-course menu with an option for paired wines.
Cinghiale: Cinghiale will have two seatings on Mother’s Day, both featuring Chef Marucci’s northern Italian classics – the first from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the second from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Cinnamon Tree Restaurant: This Hunt Valley Inn spot will serve a Mother’s Day champagne brunch this year, including a buffet and bottomless bubbly – plus a rose for mom.
Colette: Colette will be open for brunch or dinner on Mother’s Day, serving fabulous French food all day long.
Cunningham’s: On Mother’s Day, Cunningham’s will serve both a 2-course pre fixe brunch and a 3-course dinner, as well as a la carte options.
Fleet Street Kitchen: Mother’s Day choices at Fleet Street Kitchen include a 3-course brunch or 3-course dinner (a la carte options are also available).
The French Kitchen: The Lord Baltimore Hotel restaurant will offer a special 3-course menu, with an option for all you can drink Bloodies and mimosas, for Mother’s Day, with seatings at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. (reservations are required!)
Gertrude’s: Celebrate Mom early, with a lovely afternoon tea at Gertrude’s on Thursday, Friday or Saturday
The Helmand: Surprise mom with Afghan food this Mother’s Day; The Helmand will be open for special Mother’s Day dinner hours, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Hersh’s Pizza & Drinks: The patio is open at Hersh’s, where Mother’s Day brunch will include dishes like wood-fired pork belly with eggs and Calabrian chili fried chicken – a dish so good, it sold out on Easter.
Johnny’s: Mother’s Day brunch at Johnny’s runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – so you can start the day early, or give mom a chance to sleep in.
La Cuchara: Clipper Mill’s fabulous Basque spot will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mother’s Day; the regular menu will be available alongside brunch specials like oeufs en cocotte and llomo (cured pork loin) with fried eggs, padron chilies and grilled baguette
The Milton Inn: Mother’s Day dinner at The Milton Inn features the restaurant’s new spring/summer menu, including dishes like chilled watermelon gazpacho and beef tenderloin tartare.
Ouzo Bay: Ouzo Bay will open at 11 a.m. on Mother’s Day, serving the full menu, plus signature brunch specialties.
Pazo: A Mother’s Day buffet featuring dishes like marinated white button mushrooms, pork sausage frittata and wood-grilled hangar steak, will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Pen & Quill: History buff moms will enjoy Pen & Quill’s Mother’s Day display, including fantastic historic memorabilia collected in partnership with Preservation Maryland.
Petit Louis: The Roland Park location will be open for brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; during both seatings, the regular menu will be available, in addition to some special dishes.
Rusty Scupper: Check out one of the best views in the city during brunch, starting at 9:30 a.m., or dinner on Mother’s Day (reservations are required for brunch).
Silver Queen Cafe: Gather up your favorite bubbly – and mom – and head to this BYOB spot for one of their terrific brunches this Sunday.
Tark’s: Tark’s will feature both a Mother’s Day buffet and a special dinner menu this weekend.
Ware House 518: The Charles Street restaurant will serve a Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, with dishes like Dixie Shrimp & Grits and chicken and waffles.
Wit & Wisdom: Mother’s Day breakfast starts bright and early, at 7 a.m., at Wit & Wisdom, and the celebration lasts all day, with brunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with live jazz music starting at 11) and an a la carte dinner menu available from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; the tavern menu will also be available during the in-between hours.
Woodberry Kitchen: The esteemed farm-to-table restaurant will serve its famous brunch and dinner on Mother’s Day.
