Top Stories: WTMD’s First Thursdays Returning to Canton, McCormick to Ditch Metal Tins, Preservationists Hope to Save Pieces of Bel-Loc Diner

The top story on Baltimore Fishbowl this week concerned the return of First Thursdays, the monthly late spring and summer concert series from Towson-based WTMD 89.7. The station revealed yesterday that its free outdoor shows at Canton Waterfront Park were so popular in 2016 that they’ve decided to add a second stage to fit in twice as many artists in 2017.

Some other good news: The Brewer’s Art and Homeslyce are among the food and drink sponsors returning for the series. Most of the other vendors have yet to be announced. Station general manager Scott Mullins told Baltimore Fishbowl they’ll be scooting them over to a “food court”-like area to make room for more concertgoers.

The first First Thursdays show of the summer will be on May 4. The lineup includes Good Old War, Craig Finn & the Uptown Controllers, The DistrictsMuddy MagnoliasPressing Strings of Annapolis and Baltimore’s own Sun Club. Music goes live at 5:30 p.m.
